Artist Bio:
Natalia Nakazawa was born in Charlotte, NC, in 1982, and currently lives and works in Astoria, Queens. She received her B.A. in Painting from the Rhode Island School of Design, Providence, RI(2004), and is currently pursuing her Masters Degree in Education at Queens College/CUNY, Flushing, NY (2005-present). Her selected solo exhibitions include: Urbana Cityspa & Teabar, Charlotte, NC (2006); and Providence Athenaeum, Providence, RI (2003). Her selected group exhibitions include: Queens Museum of Art, Long Island City, NY (2006); ISE Cultural Foundation, Soho, NY (2006); Crane Street Studios, Long Island City, NY (2006); Project Spaceman, Williamsburg, Brooklyn, NY (2005); Red Door Gallery, Providence, RI (2004); and Woods-Gerry Gallery, Providence, RI (2002). In 2006, Nakazawa received the ISE Cultural Foundation Certificate of Commendation, selected by Juror Alexandra Munroe, Senior Curator of Asian Art at the Guggenheim. She is the innovator of the "New Pointillism" painting technique, which is a modern take on Georges Seurat's dots.
